Dr. Chinh Tran is a versatile engineering executive with deep expertise in semiconductor chip development and organizational transformation. As Deputy General Manager at MediaTek, he leads a global team that is responsible for verifying complex IPs & SOCs (used in smartphones, automotive, ARM computing, TVs, networking devices, etc.) and drives both quality enhancements & cultural change. Prior to MediaTek, he had built the San Diego Design Verification Team for the Apple Silicon Engineering Group. Earlier at Qualcomm, he established scalable verification processes & methodologies that were used across the company and was responsible the functional correctness of all smartphone SOCs. Before focusing on SOC, Dr. Tran had spent the first half of his career in CPU development. At MIPS Technologies, he built the verification team and eventually led the overall development of the MIPS24KE Processor Family (including microarchitecture, design, and verification). Along with a PhD (University of Texas at Austin) and an MS (University of California, Berkeley) in Electrical Engineering, Dr. Tran holds four patents in computer architecture and logic design. Throughout his career, he prioritizes mentoring and developing the capability of his team members.
